I ride past them with consideration for their space but if they look aggressive I usually wave my hand about a bit in a sort of "get down" gesture. It often does enough to confuse them giving me time to get past. have to be honest, in all my years and miles of cycling on the canal system I've only ever had them have a proper go at me on 2 occasions. Let's not forget that they are warning us off to protect their young.

I had bilateral knee replacement in Feb 2020, just before Covid. My doctor told me that biking was good for my knees. I just did 23 miles today. I'll be 70 next month, and I recently lost 35 pounds from 165 to 130. I feel the best I've felt in years!
